The Event Club of Nguyen Sieu School (ECON) was formed by 7 students with a passion for events management.
Nguyễn Thị Mai Phương and seven schoolmates observed a trend of students becoming more active and needing a space where they could challenge and develop themselves outside of the classroom. Thus, the idea for ECON was born: a student-run events production club that will organise events on behalf of the Nguyen Sieu School community.
ECON, short for "The Event Club of Nguyen Sieu School", plans to provide a full events management service for the School, students and parents. Working across 7 "Boards" (Executive, Content, Logistics, Human Resources, Design-Media, Finance, Arts), students will work together to put up events from ideation to execution. The club is currently run by 3 personnel on the Board of Directors and 6 Heads of boards: Executive, Content, Logistics, Human Resources, Design and Media, Finance and the Arts.
By taking on a diverse array of responsibilities related to event planning, students have the opportunity to gain real experience in managing a large-scale initiative.
ECON is part of a recent initiative launched by Nguyen Sieu School, which calls for students to pitch ideas for a student-run initiative or extracurricular activity which will receive support from the School. By creating platforms such as ECON, students are able to establish autonomous spaces, where they can feel comfortable expressing themselves, honing their leadership acumen, learning to work together and exchanging knowledge, skills and insights from life.
