On 23 February, 4 teams from Nguyen Sieu Secondary and High School competed in the 2019 Haoni Math Olympiad to emerge as Overall Champions.
After two months of preparation, 20 students from Grade 11 CAIE classes 20 Grade 11 students in Nguyen Sieu’s CAIE pathway made their way to the Finals of the 2019 Hanoi Math Olympiad at Wellspring International Bilingual School.
The 4 Nguyen Sieu teams (2 from Secondary School and 2 in the High School category) battled it out among 60 teams from other international and international bilingual schools in Hanoi, such as UNIS, ISV, Hanoi Academy TH School, BIS, Concordia, Royal City, and the Olympia Schools. All students had to complete a series of Math challenges set by teachers from each participating school.
4 hours of intense competition later, Nguyen Sieu School was crowned the Overall Champion of the Olympiad, to the great joy and jubilation of teachers and students, who have worked very hard for this victory.
In the Secondary School category, Team 2 and Team 1 were in first and second place, respectively. In the High School category, Team 2 and Team 1 placed second and third. Out of the total of 7 prizes to be claimed, Nguyen Sieu’s 4 teams collectively swept 5 of the medals, to emerge as Overall Champion.
The final team of 20 were selected from 90 students across Grade 6-8 (Secondary School) and Grade 9-11 (High School) after gruelling rounds of Math examination, brainstorming challenges and team building workshops.
